Called To Public School
Submitted by Wayne on Tue, 2008-09-02 07:26. Doctrine | Holiness | Homeschool | ParentingI have numerous Christian acquaintances who insist upon having a calling to put their children in government schooling. Might they be right about this calling? If not, why not? » read more »
Pearls To Swine
Submitted by Wayne on Sun, 2008-08-24 13:15. Church | DoctrineI've been wrestling with whether or not I should talk to my pastor about all the heresies (albeit minor) he preaches or his abysmal understanding of Koine Greek and Hebrew. I was being nagged to do so because I thought I had a responsibility to stand up for truth. However, the Lord reminded me of Matthew 7:6. » read more »
Deny publicly, privately faithful?
Submitted by Wayne on Wed, 2008-08-13 13:21. DoctrineA friend once asked me if it were acceptable to publicly deny Christ while privately, secretly remaining faithful. I had only Scripture as an answer: "Whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven." and "Whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it." » read more »
Women in the church
Submitted by Wayne on Thu, 2008-07-31 12:32. Bible | DoctrineIn 1 Timothy 2:11-15, Paul wrote:
A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness. But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve. And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. But women will be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint. » read more »
Spiritual Attack
Submitted by Wayne on Wed, 2008-07-30 16:49. DoctrineSome believers see devils everywhere, blaming them for all their woes. In so doing, they're avoiding personal responsibility for what is really just the natural consequences of their own sins. The recently popular euphemism for seeing demons behind every difficulty is "spiritual attack". » read more »
Doctrine
Submitted by Wayne on Mon, 2008-07-07 12:33. DoctrineMost believers have no clue about Biblical doctrine. Barna's survey showed only 9% of born-again Christians actually held a Biblical worldview, and the criteria was very basic: » read more »

Inoculated Against Christianity
Submitted by Wayne on Mon, 2008-06-30 10:08. Doctrine | Holiness | StupidityTo inoculate means to protect against, theoretically forevermore. There are many ways to inoculate others against Christianity, all but insuring they will never seek the Lord. Stupid Christians are the worst offenders here, doing countless unbelievers and the church a grave disservice. Here are some of the ways in which believers stupidly work to condemn others. » read more »
The Big Questions
Submitted by Wayne on Fri, 2008-06-27 09:17. DoctrineEvery believer should know how to address common questions and charges given by seekers and scoffers. Failure to handle these basics can really hurt a believer's witness and even "inoculate" a seeker against the faith. Don't be a liability for Christ; be prepared to provide reasons for your faith. » read more »
Price Of Denial
Submitted by Wayne on Tue, 2008-06-24 09:40. DoctrineIn light of John 1:1, Matthew 10:33 becomes very sobering. The written Word of God is like a shadow of the living Word, Jesus. Jesus is the Word become flesh (Matthew 10:14). If we deny Jesus before men, He will deny us before His Father. How can Jesus be our advocate at our Judgment if He has denied us because we first denied Him? He can't. This is the nature of rejection. Now, if Jesus is the Word become flesh, what might it mean for us to deny the written Word? » read more »
